Hookean Elastics explores collisions of materials under tension. Robert Hooke’s law of spring extension and compression serves as a starting point for much of the raw material. The piece also probes the line between physical acoustics and synthetic computer models of resonating bodies. The aim is to make the acoustic sounds more synthetic and the synthetic more acoustic so that, between moments of obvious realism and hyperrealism, there might exist a borderland where the actual and imagined fuse.
